Global Centers

A handful of pan-university centers and institutes emphasize global engagement, contributing to a robust academic, research, practice and service environment at Carolina. Their missions are, at their core, about the interconnectedness of global issues, and their activities, research and initiatives engage across borders and disciplines and help extend Carolina’s presence worldwide.

  • Center for Global Initiatives (CGI): A U.S. Department of Education-funded center which a catalyst for the innovative work of faculty and students. It is nimble and entrepreneurial in its approach to fostering initiatives that deepen knowledge and understanding of our complex world.
  • Global Business Center: A U.S. Department of Education-funded center which promotes education and training to contribute to the ability of United States business to prosper in an international economy
  • Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases (IGHID): Institute which works to unite and promote global health research, teaching and service activities across campus
  • Global Research Institute (GRI): A center for scholarly research on key global issues which serves as a platform for enhancing the University’s ability to strategically address the world’s most pressing challenges.
