Karen Shakhnazarov’s film Ward No. 6 (2009) is loosely based on Anton Chekhov’s novella of the same name (1892). The movie is set in contemporary Russia, on the premises of the Nikolo-Poshekhonsky monastery (now an asylum) near Moscow. There will be an introduction and discussion with Radislav Lapushin.
