    Courses

    You must read this carefully:

Many departments have special topic numbers. Examples include but are not limited to INTS 390, POLI 195, ASIA 490 and ANTH 499. These are course numbers that include a rotating list of classes. Therefore, you may not assume, for example, that if INTS 390-002 counted as a politics theme course one semester, it will count the next semester, unless the course topic is the same. If INTS 390-003 was, for example, a course on China and Development in the Spring of 2008 and was listed under Asia area credit, and now you see INTS 390-003 offered as a course on comparative health care systems, it does not follow that the course still counts as an Asia area course. In other words, it's the subject matter, not the number that is relevant in determining what kind of credit, if any, the course may count for in the global studies major. To determine if you will receive theme or area credit for the class, you must contact Director of Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Jonathan Weiler.

Don't forget, you can petition to have a class count for major credit. For courses taken as part of a study abroad program, please see the Study Abroad page.
