The world has lost a great light and leader with the passing of Nelson Mandela on Dec. 5, 2013. His courage and wisdom will remain an inspiration.

At Carolina, visitors to the FedEx Global Education Center will be reminded of Mandela’s life mission, achievements and global impact each time they step into the building. Since the building’s completion in 2007, the Nelson Mandela Auditorium continues to be one of the most beloved and well-used spaces in the building. Funded by an anonymous donor, the name for the auditorium honors Nelson Mandela, a man emblematic of wisdom, social justice and global leadership.

A wreath commemorating Nelson Mandela's life stands outside of the auditorium.
