Alexander Gilliatt is the executive assistant to the vice provost for global affairs. He began this role in 2024. Alexander supports the vice provost, managing her calendar, preparing materials, making travel arrangements and handling expenses. Additionally, he supports the approval process for international travel for Carolina faculty and staff.
Previously, Alexander was a program coordinator at the UNC Research Data Management Core and Odum Institute, supporting students, scholars and 39 international and domestic partner institutions. He completed an internship with United States Army Special Operations Command at Fort Liberty, North Carolina, and worked as a graduate assistant for the Correlates of War Project and projects facing Latin America, Kenya and South Korea.
Alexander earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Appalachian State University. He enjoys studying languages, reading and writing. He has previously published one of his short stories in The Peel Review. He is also passionate about forests and contributes often to community cleanup efforts.
