Ioana Costant is the director of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). She has served in this role since 2020. Ioana leads the office, which supports more than 4,000 scholars and students at Carolina. She is focused on delivering high-quality services and programs to international students, scholars, faculty, staff and community members, and she is committed to continued process improvement. Previously, she served as assistant director (2016-2020). 

Before joining ISSS, Ioana worked at Kenan-Flagler Business School (KFBS) where she developed best practice guidelines for faculty recruitment. She also worked at the University of Washington, was a staff attorney at Ayuda in Washington, D.C. and was an immigration attorney in New York City before coming to Carolina. 

Ioana has lived in Colombia, the Netherlands, Brazil and Belgium. She currently lives with her family in Chapel Hill.
