Katie Costanza is the associate director for strategy and impact at UNC Global Affairs. She began this role in 2022. Katie supports the department through strategic planning, assessment and reporting. She collects and analyzes data on programs and projects and from various stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, campus partners, community members and international partners. Her assessment efforts help others better understand the scope and impact of global activity on campus and around the world. Katie also advises others on developing new initiatives, supports colleagues who are applying for awards or grants, and manages the annual Carolina Global Photography Competition and Exhibition.

Previously, she served as research, communication and program manager. Before joining UNC Global Affairs in 2020, Katie managed data, communication, assessment and student awards at Carolina’s Center for Global Initiatives (CGI). At the time, she worked to increase the center’s reach to students who were often underrepresented in global programming. Previously, Katie served as the director of foundation relations with an education nonprofit organization, helping administrators and teachers in rural high schools across North Carolina; worked in the county manager’s offices in Durham County and Pitt County; and served as a refugee resettlement case specialist in Durham.

Katie is originally from North Carolina and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill. She lives with her family in Chapel Hill.
