Timothy Rose is the associate director for exchange and sponsored programs at UNC Global Affairs. He facilitates academic and professional exchanges between Carolina and partners around the world. Timothy works with domestic and international partners, funding agencies and Carolina faculty to develop comprehensive short-term visitor programs on a variety of topics. Past exchanges have focused on topics such as global security, biomedical engineering, entrepreneurship and the arts, and have involved universities and partners in Ecuador, Jordan, Japan and more. 

Before coming to Carolina, Timothy served as the international program and partnership manager at North Carolina State University (NC State). There, he supported international collaboration between faculty at NC State and partners around the world. He also managed academic and professional exchanges at NC State. Before returning to North Carolina — his home state — he spent 18 years living and working abroad in the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. He has dedicated his career to development, social justice and intercultural dialogue, and he is a trained facilitator in cross-cultural communication and conflict resolution. 

Timothy earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Miami University and his master’s degree in liberal studies from NC State. He lives with his family in Chapel Hill.
