Kim Priebe

Associate Director for Global Travel

Kim Priebe is the associate director for global travel. Priebe evaluates, reduces and manages risks associated with international travel for the thousands of Carolina-affiliated travelers who travel each academic year.

Immediately prior to coming to Carolina, Priebe served as director of study abroad at NC State University, and previously senior associate director/manager of global health and safety, for 12 years. Priebe has dedicated her career to international higher education, first starting out as a study abroad advisor at Carolina prior to her time at NC State. She has expertise in risk management and crisis response in global student travel, policy and program development, developing and implementing crisis response protocols, conducting risk assessments, emergency call response, and faculty and student pre-departure preparation.

Priebe’s areas of interests include mental health and self-care abroad. She is committed to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in education abroad and strives to create an inclusive environment in her work. In her previous role, she led her team to earn numerous awards for their outstanding contributions to making education abroad more accessible to all students.

Priebe holds a master’s in educational leadership and policy studies with a concentration in higher education administration. Priebe’s interest in languages and cultures led her to study abroad as an undergraduate in Spain, and later in Costa Rica. Her work has taken her to every continent except Antarctica.
