Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs

Headshot of Krista Northup

As director of global partnerships in the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs, Northup has responsibility for continuing to support and grow Carolina’s international engagements around the world. Northup brings a unique mix of university and organizational experiences from previous roles, which she will draw on as she works to implement Carolina’s global partnership strategy.

As director of international recruitment at the State University of New York (SUNY) system administration, Northup was a key member of the executive partnership management team working with the vice chancellor for global affairs to implement a trailblazing strategy to raise SUNY’s international brand by positioning the 64-campus system as a leading global study destination.

Most recently, Northup led the North America team at Sannam S4, a higher education consultancy organization specializing in global operations. Prior to Sannam S4, Northup was the director of university partnerships at Cambridge Education Group (CEG) where she was responsible for developing a number of strategic relationships between CEG and North American institutions, building long-term sustainable recruitment and education pathways for international students.

In addition to her knowledge of international student recruitment and partnerships, Northup gained tremendous experience of the international higher education landscape as the University of Melbourne’s (UoM) regional manager for North America. At UoM Northup directed the university’s international engagement strategy with North American university partners, industry associations (including AIEA, NAFSA, The Forum on Education Abroad, IIE and CBIE), government stakeholders and news media agencies.

Northup’s experience in international partnerships also stems from roles at Australian Education International where she served as a primary liaison between North American and Australian education providers to establish and advance bilateral relationships. Her role required her to develop and implement strategic communication plans to guide and promote Australian education throughout the United States and Canada. With tremendous experience in recruitment, partnership development, alumni management and establishing strong, sustainable international strategies, Northup is a highly respected advisor in the international higher education sector.
