Raymond Farrow is associate provost for global affairs and interim chief global officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As associate provost, he serves as the chief operating officer and executive director of UNC Global, a group of pan-university focused programmatic and service units that support Carolina’s global mission. He also leads UNC’s global strategy and supports the development of major international initiatives across campus.

From 2005 to 2012, Farrow served as executive director of the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. Farrow served as the institute’s chief operating officer and was responsible for designing and managing major programmatic initiatives, including the Carolina Entrepreneurial Initiative, a cross-campus entrepreneurship program funded by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

From 1998 to 2005, Farrow was the director of development for UNC Global, where he initiated and designed a comprehensive fundraising program to support international and area studies programs. During his tenure, he raised over $21 million in major gifts in support of the Carolina First campaign and was instrumental in the design and development of the FedEx Global Education Center on UNC’s campus.

In 1987, Farrow worked as associate producer for Dawn’s Early Light: Ralph McGill and the Segregated South, a PBS documentary broadcast nationwide examining the role of progressive journalism in the South during the Civil Rights Movement.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wake Forest University, Farrow received a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (MALD) from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. In 1989, he was one of 18 young Americans selected as a Luce Scholar by the Henry Luce Foundation and served a one-year internship with Chinese Public Television in Taipei, Taiwan.
