West Lockhart, managing director at BlackRock, is head of wealth sales for Latin America. In this role he is responsible for the delivering the firm’s platform to clients in the region. Prior to joining the Latin America region team, he was the head of the EMEA Strategic Partnership Program, where he and his team developed the firm’s partnership strategy spanning banks, insurance companies and pension funds.
From 2012 to 2017, he was co-head of EMEA retail sales, where he led distribution of BlackRock’s active funds and solutions in the region. Previously, he was chief marketing officer for the EMEA region and was responsible for the marketing strategy and programs to build BlackRock’s brand.
Prior to joining BlackRock in 2007, Lockhart held a number of sales and marketing management roles within Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in New York. From 1995 to 2000, he worked at Young & Rubicam Inc. in Miami and New York, where he led marketing strategy for several global client relationships in the technology and financial services sectors.
Lockhart is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds a master’s in Latin American studies and international business from the University of Miami, where he graduated with honors and held a research position at the North–South Center for Latin American Studies. He is an avid student of foreign languages and cycling.
