Andrea Bohlman, ‘Recording Eastern Europe’

4In this presentation, Andrea Bohlman of the Department of Music at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will share some sound objects – a flexidisc, a map, a transcription, among others – to open a conversation about the role that sound and listening have had in creating knowledge about and imagining Eastern Europe.

Bohlman is an assistant professor in the Department of Music. She is a historical musicologist whose research is centered on political stakes of music making in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
