Carl Ernst, ‘Hallaj: Poems of a Sufi Martyr’

Join the Persian Art Center in Carolina for a presentation by Carl Ernst, William R. Kenan, Jr., Distinguished Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and co-director of the Carolina Center for the Study of the Middle East and Muslim Civilizations, on the poetry of Husayn ibn Mansur al-Hallaj, an early Sufi mystic.

The program will begin with a social from 4 to 4:30 p.m. There will be a welcome and introduction by Amir Rezvani, 4:30 to 4:45 p.m. From 4:45 6 p.m., there will be a presentation by Ersnt followed by discussion. From 6:45 to 7:30 p.m., there will be live Persian music and poetry readings by the audience.
