Please join the Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies over dinner on Dec. 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for the first meeting of the Central Asia Working Group. This new working group is a forum for University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill undergraduates, graduate students, visiting scholars and faculty interested in the region to exchange ideas and foster an intellectual community devoted to the study of Central Asian societies. The group seeks to build on existing strengths on campus in research, teaching and outreach concerning Central Asia, Russia, China and the former Soviet Union.
The faculty conveners are Erica Johnson and Eren Tasar. The Central Asia Working Group is sponsored by the Center for Global Initiatives and the Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss ideas for the group’s activities starting in the Spring term.
Anyone with an interest in Central Asia is warmly encouraged to attend! Please RSVP in advance.
