Child Development in a Global Context

September 19, 2018 at 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Join us as Dr. Aisha Yousafzai, Associate Professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, presents a public talk on “Child Development in a Global Context: Integrating Developmental Science and Implementation Science to Enhance Child Wellbeing.” An estimated 250 million children living in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are unable to meet their developmental potential in the first five years of life. Child survival rates have slowly improved in this population; however, attention to children’s healthy development has lagged behind. Recent increased investments in research, programmes and policies promoting early child development have not resulted in substantial benefits to young children’s development. This talk will provide an overview of the current state of the science with respect to early child development in LMICs and discuss potential directions for future research and innovations that have the potential to improve the impact of services for young children at scale.
