The workshop features Slovak banjoist Richard Cifersky and ethnomusicologist Lee Bidgood. Cifersky, a top European player and teacher, has toured the U.S. with band Fragment, and played with bluegrass mainstays Becky Buller and Dale Ann Bradley. Bidgood began his research on Czech bluegrass while a music student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was an early member of the Steep Canyon Rangers.

This workshop is part of a series of events presented by the Department of Music at UNC-Chapel Hill, the Carolina Bluegrass Initiative, the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures and the Southern Folklife Collection. All events in the series are free and open to the public.
