Students and parents of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools are invited to celebrate Europe Day at Smith Middle School. Events are free and open to the public.

Begin the event by cheering on teams in the Euro Mania Jeopardy tournament in the auditorium, creating EU jewelry, playing a European game, learning salutations in a European language, or learning about Smith’s Belgian exchange program.

At 5 pm in the cafeteria European food booths will open for you to enjoy a free crepe, a croque-monsieur from Provence, or Greek food from Mediterranean Deli. Pizza will also be for sale. Beginning at 5:30, the Walk for Unity will have participants carry a banner with the EU motto: United in Diversity.

Top off your evening with a piece of complimentary EU birthday cake and a presentation about the European Union, including stories of heroism and bravery by WWII veteran and French Legion of Honor recipient Bob Patton.

The first 200 attendees will enjoy free food. Europe Day t-shirts will be for sale at a reduced price. This event is funded by the “Getting to Know Europe” grant.
