Gina Chowa, ‘Exploring the Effects of an Integrated Approach to Improving Family Economic Security and Supporting Child Development’

The Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute will offer a talk by Gina Chowa, a professor of social work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill titled, “Exploring the Effects of an Integrated Approach to Improving Family Economic Security and Supporting Child Development.” Chowa is the associate dean for global engagement and director of global social development innovations at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work. She conducts research on global social development, particularly the intersection of economic security, workforce development, social protection and financial inclusion and its impact on the well-being of vulnerable and marginalized populations in the Global South. Her research focuses on employing rigorous methodology to examine causal relationships between holistic economic security interventions and well-being of children, youth and their families in low-resource communities.
