GO! Global Orientation on Culture and Ethics

This orientation is designed to help students evaluate expectations, anticipate potential cultural and ethical challenges, prepare for engagement in communities and develop intercultural competencies.
Topics discussed include ‘voluntourism’, the ‘White Savior’ complex, the ethics of healthcare abroad, race and ethnicity in a global context, local global opportunities, global photography and gender and sexuality in cross-cultural travel.
The conference offer interactive workshops led by world-renowned faculty, staff, students and community members on the diverse contexts and challenges you may face while abroad; an intimate global networking lunch featuring tables hosts with global experience; and opportunities to connect with peers interested in global experiences and cross-cultural engagement.
