CANCELED: Erhard Busek, ‘Has the European Union Still a Future?’ | Europe Week

Erhard Busek has a distinguished career in public service and international affairs. A former vice chancellor of Austria, minister of science and research, minister of education, and deputy mayor of Vienna, he has been active in the Austrian People’s Party in position ranging from legal advisor to General Secretary. Busek has held a number of important positions: secretary-general of the Austrian Federation for Trade and Commerce, editor of a monthly newspaper ‘Wiener Journal’, chairman of the Institute for the Danube and Central Europe, and president of the European Forum Alpbach. He was special representative of the Austrian Government for the Enlargement of the European Union in 2000 and 2001 and from 2002 to 2008 was special coordinator for the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe. In 2004, Busek was named rector of the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, Austria. He is a visiting professor of the practice of public policy studies at Duke University, and co-chair of the Commission on Radio and Television Policy: Central and Eastern Europe.
