Paul Mendes-Flohr, ‘Martin Buber: A Life of Faith and Dissent’

October 28, 2019 at 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

This free lecture will focus on Martin Buber’s concept of faith as life-long process in which one faces the existential ambiguities of interpersonal relations and the anguished realities of modern Jewish life.

Paul Mendes-Flohr  is a professor emeritus of modern Jewish thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and professor emeritus of Jewish intellectual history at the University of Chicago. He is co-editor of 26 volume critical edition of Martin Buber’s writings in German, and the author of a recently published biography of Martin Buber, published by Yale University Press.
