Rachel Epstein, ‘Banking on Markets: The Transformation of Bank-State Ties in Europe and Beyond’

Rachel Epstein is a professor at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies and academic co-director of the Colorado European Union Center of Excellence. Her research and teaching focus on the relationship between the economy and security outcomes, international organizations and domestic compliance, the politics of finance, states in transition and civil-military relations. Epstein’s current research focuses on the role of banks in the European debt and currency crises, the developmental prospects for the EU’s newest member states and the consequences of both for Europe’s integration project. Her current book project is called Banking on Markets: The Transformation of Bank-State Ties in Europe and Beyond. Epstein has also served as a Jean Monnet Post-Doctoral Fellow at the European University Institute and as a Transatlantic Research Fellow there.300
