CANCELED: The Convenient Spot: Patterns and Repetition in Japanese Art and Literature at the Ackland

March 13, 2020 at 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Carolina Public Humanities is collaborating with the Ackland Art Museum to highlight Japanese art and literature.

Yuko Kato, Teaching Associate Professor of Japanese, will lead a discussion on the award-winning short novel Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata, an exciting young voice in international fiction and Vogue Japan’s 2016 Woman of the Year. Carolyn Allmendinger, Ackland’s Director of Education and Interpretation, will then guide participants through the Ackland’s new exhibition Yayoi Kusama: Open the Shape Called Love, featuring paintings with the signature polka dot patterning, provocative sculpture, and multi-media work of one of the most admired of all contemporary artists.

$30 per person (includes a copy of the book).

Register online or call 919.962.1544.
