Virtual: ‘Holi Celebration through Poetry: Rajiv Mohabir’

Join the Asian American Center on March 24 at 7:30 p.m. for a two-part event with poet Rajiv Mohabir. Mohabir will give a reading and discuss his book I Even Regret Night: Holi Songs of Demerara (Kaya Press, 2019), Mohabir’s translation of Lalbihari Sharma’s 1916 book of poems. This book captures life’s hardships as an island “coolie” worker, the only known literary work by an indentured servant in the Anglophone Caribbean. Tyree Daye, author of Cardinal, will join in interviewing Rajiv about his poetic career and upcoming projects. Questions from the audience are warmly encouraged. Register for the Zoom link here.
