Virtual: Structures of Inequality: Systemic Racism & Criminal Justice

Join Honors Carolina and Phi Beta Kappa Society for the third talk of the six part series, Systemic Racism and Criminal Justice presented by Frank Baumgartner, Frank Baumgartner holds the Richard J. Richardson Distinguished Chair in Political Science and came to Carolina in 2009 after a PhD at the University of Michigan and a career at several research universities. He has written widely on the topic of public policy, teaches a large course at Carolina about the death penalty, and has been active in statistically intense research projects relating to several aspects of the death penalty, routine traffic stops, and most recently an analysis of the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts data on every arrest in the state since 2013, millions of cases. These research projects have poverty, race, gender, and identity at their cores, as they are also at the core of what we see in the criminal justice system.
