Virtual: Women and Revolution

April 2, 2021 at 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

The GSLAC working group is inviting Lorraine Bayard de Volo to discuss her work on revolutionary women in Cuba and Nicaragua. Bayard de Volo (University of Colorado, Boulder) will share knowledge and experiences from her decades of fieldwork experience researching on women’s political participation during the respective revolutions in Cuba and Nicaragua. Bayard de Volo will discuss how women’s roles in these revolutions challenge the notion that social change is a predominantly male sphere. Bayard de Volo will also join for a question and answer period on her work, where we will open the floor to audience questions.

This event is sponsored by the Working Group on Gender and Sexuality in Latin America and the Caribbean and will be held virtually. A Zoom link will be sent out the week of the event. Registration is required.
