The Institute for the Arts and Humanities at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is thrilled to announce Zia Haider Rahman, author of the highly acclaimed 2014 novel In the Light of What We Know, will deliver the 24th annual Mary Stevens Reckford Memorial Lecture in European Studies. Rahman is Bangladesh-born but raised and educated in Great Britain. He is currently the Radcliffe Fellow at Harvard University and has been appointed a 2018 Director’s Visitor at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University. Rahman graduated from Oxford and also studied at Cambridge and Yale Universities. He worked as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs before practicing as a corporate lawyer and then as an international human rights lawyer. He has also worked as an anti-corruption activist.
