Reserving Space in the GEC
The Global Education Center (GEC) is the hub and home for global education at Carolina. Accordingly, units housed in the GEC and campus partners carrying out global projects funded by the Chancellor’s Global Education fund are able to reserve space in the center. Please place your reservation in 25Live.
Requests for Security must be submitted three weeks prior to an event, include a complete chartfield string, and provide a main contact for the day of the event: https://police.unc.edu/services/security-services/
First Floor
Seats 246. The Nelson Mandela Auditorium, located off the main atrium, is suitable for lectures, musical performances, films and conferences. The room features tiered seating and is equipped with technology, a large stage, and a movie theater sized screen.
Amenities: fixed tablet arm seating, movable podium, control system, in-house PC, laptop connection, Blu-ray/DVD player-region free, document camera, wireless microphone, video projectors, dimmable lighting, assistive lighting, surround sound, wireless network access.
Restrictions: Food and drink are not permitted.
Seats 64. This large classroom space offers additional space at the front of the room for presenters and panelists. Movable tables and chairs make this a versatile room for conferences, classes, lectures and large meetings.
Amenities: control system, in-house PC, laptop connection, document camera, overhead transparency projector, Blu-ray/DVD player-region free, video projector, surround sound, white board, wireless network access.
Restrictions: Food and drink are not permitted.
Seats 36. This classroom with fixed seating offers advanced technology that allows the user to converse easily with up to five other sites. There are no additional connection charges.
Amenities: control system, video conference camera, in-house PC, laptop connection, document camera, overhead transparency projector, surround system, 60” plasma screen for video conferencing, wireless microphone for video conferencing, white board, wireless network access, AV bridge for web video conferencing using room PC.

Second Floor

Seats 12. Enjoy views of campus from this conference room that boasts an entire wall of windows. Movable tables and chairs allow for flexible seating arrangements. Conference rooms 2008 and 2010 can be combined into one large room that seats 30 people after tables and chairs are rearranged.
Amenities: control system, laptop connection, document camera, multi-standard video cassette (VCR), DVD player-region free, video projector, surround sound, white board, wireless network access.

Seats 16. This room has a large center table and is appropriate for meetings, small seminars and conferences.

Fourth Floor
This conference room has movable tables and chairs and can accommodate seminars, lectures, conferences and meetings. The space is also appropriate for small dinners, luncheons and receptions when combined with the reception area just outside the conference room. Guests using space can also take advantage of the rooftop patio and colorful green roof.
