Graduate Assistant: Content Producer

The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs (OVPGA) is accepting applications for a graduate assistant for the 2023-2024 academic year. 

Position Description

The content producer will be responsible for drafting and editing news stories for the UNC Global Affairs website as well as occasional copy for print, web and digital promotion materials.

Skills and Expertise

The OVPGA is seeking candidates with excellent writing and editing skills. Familiarity with AP style is strongly preferred. Candidates must also have strong organizational skills and an awareness of the considerations needed to convey global topics with cultural sensitivity.  

Preferred candidates will have professional writing experience. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, dependable and creative. Photography skills are a plus.

This role will include both independent and collaborative projects. The graduate assistant will work closely with both the OVPGA’s communications manager and the associate director for strategy and impact, and will engage with colleagues at OVPGA and other units across campus as part of the story-writing process. This role will report to the associate director for strategy and impact. 

Position Expectations

Most duties may be conducted remotely, however this student is expected to be available for in-person assignments as needed (i.e., occasional in-person event coverage, interviews, etc.). Approximately 8-12 hours per week is expected. A maximum of 15 hours per week is available.

Pay will range between $20-25 per hour and is commensurate with experience.
