Global Business Center Names 2013-2014 Fellows

UNC Kenan-Flagler’s Global Business Center has named second-year MBAs Bridget Brennan and Parisa Salkhordeh and undergraduate business student Alexandra Cebula as fellows for the 2013-2014 academic year.
GBC Fellows develop and coordinate the center’s outreach to UNC Kenan-Flagler students and provide strategic and practical assistance for its programs. GBC added a second MBA fellow and a new fellowship for undergraduate business students this year as part of a major push to expand programming for students.
“GBC Fellows play an invaluable role in ensuring that our programs remain relevant and tightly aligned with students’ interests and needs,” said GBC Executive Director Julia Kruse. “They also serve as liaisons, connecting us with their classmates to take advantage of opportunities that develop their global competencies.”
GBC Fellows for 2013-2014 are:
Bridget Brennan, a second-year MBA student from Chicago, Ill. She will be responsible for the GBC’s student outreach programs. Brennan studied French and English literature at the University of Notre Dame and lived in France and Italy. Following graduation, she spent a year as a language assistant in Annecy, France, and subsequently worked five years in the translation and language services industry in Boston. Advising clients on globalization issues led her to pursue her MBA, and she chose UNC Kenan-Flagler for its excellent global programming. Brennan participated in a Global Business Project in Brazil in March 2013 and spent last summer as an associate with Deloitte Consulting.
Parisa Salkhordeh, a second-year MBA student from Tehran, Iran. She will explore strategies for furthering GBC’s interaction and learning between international and domestic students and assist in center outreach. Salkhordeh has visited more than 15 countries and worked on three continents. She obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering and information management in hospitality. She has worked in the oil and gas, energy, design consulting, education and automobile industries. She completed an internship last summer at Deloitte’s McLean office strategy and operations practice.
Alexandra Cebula, an undergraduate business major and Asian Studies minor from Charlotte, N.C. She will focus on expanding the GBC’s student outreach for undergraduate business students. Cebula is studying Mandarin and can converse in Spanish. She has served as a Business School Ambassador and as the Social Media Chair for the Unity Conference Steering Committee. She spent last summer as a field management intern with Sears Holdings Corp. in Durham, N.C., where she created store Twitter and Instagram accounts.
