Message from International Student and Scholar Services Regarding Executive Order

This message was sent to international students and scholars at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by the director of International Student and Scholar Services, Elizabeth Barnum, on January 31, 2017.
Dear International Students, Faculty and Scholars,
On January 27, 2017, President Trump signed an Executive Order: Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States by Foreign Nationals. Among its provisions, this order suspends entry to the United States of individuals from the following seven countries: Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Somalia, Libya and Yemen.
We know that many members of our community are concerned and uncertain about what this means for them. Please know that we are keeping up to date on the Executive Order and its implementation. When we have more information on the implications of this and other orders and legislation affecting the UNC international community, we will post this information on our webpage (isss.unc.edu/executiveorders) and send follow-up emails.
You are valuable members of our University community and International Student and Scholar Services is here to support you in any way that we can. We are committed to your success at UNC and we hope that even during these difficult times you are able to continue to pursue the interests that brought you to UNC-Chapel Hill.
