Mami Kayama, chairperson and professor in the Graduate School of Nursing at St. Luke’s International University in Tokyo, Japan, will be visiting the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing April 25 through 26. She will give a presentation titled “Process and Prospects” about the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program St. Luke’s is working on establishing. Their DNP program is the first in Japan, and School of Nursing professor SeonAe Yeo is leading the effort in its launch.

Kayama’s visit will further the relationship between St. Luke’s and the School of Nursing, whose formal cooperation began last fall with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The MOU seeks to establish a UNC-St. Luke’s International Visiting Professorship, which will allow UNC faculty to spend 4 to 6 weeks each summer in Tokyo to participate in teaching and research.

“Dr. Kayama’s visit finalizes the mutually beneficial relationship the School of Nursing is proud to hold with St. Luke’s,” said dean Pergallo Montano. “We welcome Dr. Kayama to the School and we’re looking forward to the future of this global partnership.”
