Faculty Awards for Global Excellence
UNC Global Affairs invites nominations for Faculty Awards for Global Excellence to recognize UNC faculty members whose contributions advance the University’s “unwavering commitment to excellence as one of the world’s great research universities.”
Up to three awards will be presented annually to faculty demonstrating achievements in any combination of the following:
- Global Partnerships | Explores or expands mutually beneficial relationships with global partner institutions in ways that advance education and research
- Global Education | Contributes to the University’s Global Guarantee, Carolina’s promise that a global education is available to all students
- Global Research | Pursues international research collaboration that advances Carolina’s commitment to “leading change to improve society and to help solve the world’s greatest problems.”
Preference will be given to nominees whose contributions enhance UNC-Chapel Hill’s global reputation and visibility, as well as demonstrate impact, innovation, and benefit to the state of North Carolina.
The vice provost for global affairs will present the awards at a special ceremony in the FedEx Global Education Center in May 2025. Selected faculty will receive an award of $5,000.
Funding for the Faculty Awards for Global Excellence is made possible through contributions to the Chancellor’s Global Education Fund.
Eligibility
Tenured, tenure-track and term-appointed faculty who are currently employed by UNC-Chapel Hill are eligible to receive a Faculty Award for Global Excellence. Adjunct and visiting/exchange faculty, postdocs and graduate students are ineligible.
Nominations
Nomination FormNominations will be accepted until February 15, 2025. UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, staff and students may submit multiple nominations. Faculty members may nominate themselves.
Selection
Awardees will be notified in March 2025 and publicly announced in April 2025.
