Thematic Spotlight: Learning Moment | “Folded” | Quang Nam Province, Vietnam
In a corner shop along the coast of Vietnam, women sit inside stifling hot rooms folding colorful cloth lanterns by hand. These lanterns have become iconic in Vietnam, where they are eventually sold to tourists who take them all over the world. It reminded me to trace the cultural origin of the tokens I take with me — somewhere in a shop, a lady is folding a lantern. The light it brings spreads millions of miles.
