Undergraduate Communications Assistant
The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs is accepting applications for a Communications Assistant for the 2022-2023 Academic Year.
Position Description
Communications responsibilities include creating content for UNC Global’s social media channels; drafting and editing internal and external communications such as news stories and promotion materials; and supporting website management of global.unc.edu. The assistant may also help with preparing newsletter communications.
Skills and Expertise
Global Partnership and Programs is seeking candidates with excellent editing and writing skills, familiarity with style guidelines such as the AP Stylebook, and an interest in global studies or international education. Candidates must also have strong organizational skills, the ability to learn new systems quickly with training, a collaborative work ethic and ability to work independently, sensitivity to cultural differences, and a pleasant and positive demeanor.
Preferred candidates will have some experience related to the core responsibilities listed in the job description. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, dedicated, dependable and creative.
Media and journalism, graphic design and video editing skills are a plus.
Position Expectations
Some work may be conducted remotely, however, students are expected to be available to complete their hours in-person as needed.
Approximately 8-12 hours per week is expected. Work hours are to be conducted during business hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pay range will be between $13-16 per hour and is commensurate with experience.
