Upcoming Events At This Venue

April 1, 2019

On April 9, 2019, Israelis will go to the polls. But now that the Israeli Attorney General recommended that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu be indicted on charges of fraud, bribery and breach of trust, how will it impact the upcoming elections? Who are the other parties and personalities running for election? What will happen to the Israeli political landscape if Netanyahu is replaced? And how will this impact U.S.-Israel relations? Amir Tibon’s presentation will address these issues and the structure of the Israeli government.

Tibon is an award-winning Israeli journalist who is currently the Washington, D.C. correspondent for Haaretz newspaper. He covers the U.S.-Israel relationship, the Middle East peace process and the American Jewish community. His reporting on Israel and the Middle East has appeared in The Atlantic, Foreign Affairs, Politico Magazine, The New Yorker, Tablet Magazine and other leading U.S. publications. His first book, a biography of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, was published in 2017. He has reported from conflict zones in Syria, Ukraine and eastern Turkey.
