Delegation from Nagoya University Visits UNC

A delegation from Nagoya University, led by President Seiichi Matsuo, visited the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on March 10, 2017, to sign two agreements and explore collaboration.

The Nagoya delegation was hosted at UNC by Ron Strauss, executive vice provost and chief international officer, and Don Hobart, associate vice chancellor for research, along with faculty and administrators of UNC Global, the UNC School of Medicine, and the UNC-NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering, a unique collaboration between North Carolina State University College of Engineering and UNC College of Arts and Sciences and School of Medicine.

During the visit, the universities signed two agreements to formalize collaborations: a Visiting Scholar Agreement to enable NU doctoral candidates in medicine to spend time at the UNC School of Medicine engaging in research and networking with faculty and students, as well as a general Memorandum of Understanding between the UNC-NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering and NU’s Academic Research and Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration unit.

The agreements are a continuation of the developing partnership between UNC and Nagoya, which began in the late 1980s.
