Funding from the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs
The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs offers funding to develop and sustain global partnerships and international collaboration. This funding is made possible by the Chancellor’s Global Education Fund, the unrestricted pan-University fund that supports Carolina’s top global priorities.
Curriculum Development Awards for COIL
Through the Connecting Carolina Classrooms with the World (CCCW) initiative, the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs is offering Curriculum Development Awards for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), one of three CCCW approaches to offering a global education to all Carolina students. COIL awards support Carolina faculty members interested in working with a colleague at an international institution to develop international collaboration for students in their regularly scheduled courses. Faculty members will design collaborative projects or assignments to connect students from the two courses, one at each institution, over a period of at least three weeks. Faculty can also request funds to hire a graduate student teaching assistant to provide support in the development or implementation of COIL activities in the first semester in which the course is taught.

Faculty Awards for Global Excellence
Faculty Awards for Global Excellence recognize faculty members whose contributions advance the University’s global vision, articulated in the 2020 strategic plan, Carolina Next: Innovations for Public Good. Tenured, tenure-track and term-appointed faculty who are currently employed by UNC-Chapel Hill are eligible to receive an award. UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, staff, and students are eligible to submit nominations.

Global Partnership Awards
Global Partnership Awards are designed to make a catalytic impact on partnerships between UNC-Chapel Hill and international institutions, typically colleges or universities. Awards support Carolina faculty, staff and graduate students who plan to collaborate with partners abroad. Preference is given to proposals that include designated UNC-Chapel Hill strategic or key partners, but applications can involve other international institutions.
