Suna Hanöz-Penney, ‘A Fair Start for Children, AÇEV’s Experiences in Program Replication in Turkey and Internationally’

April 11, 2019 at 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Since the 1993 establishment of the Mother Child Education Foundation (AÇEV) in Istanbul, the foundation’s mission has been to make a lasting contribution to society by supporting the development of children and their environments through education starting from early years. Aiming to address the social challenge of lack of access to quality early childhood development and education, AÇEV provides evidence-based knowledge, programs and policies to serve young children and their families across Turkey and internationally. This presentation will discuss AÇEV’s insights for success in program expansion and replication. Suna Hanöz-Penney will also share learned lessons on AÇEV’s quality assurance framework, vital for systematically conducting process and outcome evaluations monitoring program impact, quality and fidelity. The content of the early childhood and parenting models have been adapted to local needs in fourteen countries, making it replicable with proven impact.

Hanöz-Penney currently works as the Director of International Programs at
AÇEV, where her work focuses on both designing and supervising the early intervention programs for children and families implemented at both the national and international fields.

This event is sponsored by the UNC Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute.
