The Center for the Middle East and Islamic Studies 20th Year Anniversary: Comedy and Hip-Hop Show
November 21 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Students, faculty, and members of the community are all invited to join us for an evening of entertainment featuring Tehran Ghasri, a Black-Persian stand-up comedian, followed by a performance by Syrian-American hip-hop artist Omar Offendum and accompanied by Palestinian-American musician Ronnie Malley and NC local DJ Rang.
More about the performers:
- Tehran Ghasri is a comedian, actor, host, television and radio personality, and philosopher with a law degree. Self-described as part Black, part Persian and part amazing, Tehran has been compared to a mix of Dave Chappelle and Stephen Colbert meets Maz Johnson.
- Omar Chakaki is a Syrian-American Architect & Hip-Hop Artist. While touring the world to perform his ground-breaking music, he has helped raise thousands of dollars for various humanitarian relief organizations.
- Ronnie Malley is a musician, actor, producer, educator, and executive director of Intercultural Music Production in Chicago. Ronnie’s goal is to help people learn about cultures through music and the arts to foster an understanding of global citizenship.
Tickets to the show will be free, and available for reservation in January. The event is sponsored by the UNC Center for Middle East and Islamic Studies, UNC Persian Studies, and the UNC Institute for the Arts and Humanities
Parking is available at the Cobb parking lot, and at the Bell Tower parking lot after 5pm for minimal costs. Reserve your tickets starting January 2, 2023 at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cmeis-20th-anniversary-comedy-hip-hop-show-tickets-443271435797
