Virtual: 2020 Richardson Lecture with Mike Cohen, ‘Fighting Infections: The Long-Term View’

September 17, 2020 at 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

The UNC World View Richardson Lecture honors Richard J. Richardson, former Provost of UNC-Chapel Hill, with a public lecture by a renowned guest speaker.

A noted political scientist and distinguished professor, Richardson served on the University faculty from 1969 until his retirement in 2000. He is lauded as one of the most accomplished classroom teachers in UNC-Chapel Hill’s 227-year history and celebrated for his dedication to community service. As provost, Richardson founded World View in 1998 alongside James Peacock and World View Director Emeritus Robert Phay.

The event raises funds for scholarships that expand access to UNC World View programs, particularly for educators from under-served communities. It is designed for community supporters to learn about UNC World View and our mission of serving K-12 and community college educators by providing global education professional development opportunities.

Myron “Mike” S. Cohen, will present the 2020 Richardson Lecture, “Fighting Infections: The Long-Term View.” Dr. Cohen is the Yeargan-Bate Eminent professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology and Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He serves as the associate vice chancellor for global health at the university, and director for the Institute for Global Health & Infectious Diseases (IGHID). Dr. Cohen’s research focuses on the transmission and prevention of transmission of HIV.
