A Discussion with Former Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch

April 21, 2022 at 5:15 PM - 6:30 PM

Marie Yovanovitch, former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, will speak to the Carolina community in a discussion on April 21 as part of Carolina’s first-ever Diplomacy Week hosted by the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs.

Yovanovitch has served in multiple senior government positions during her 33-year diplomatic career, including service as U.S. ambassador to Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, as well as assignments in Mogadishu, London and Moscow. She retired from the State Department in 2020 after she testified as a key witness in Trump’s first impeachment trial.

The former ambassador is now a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a non-resident fellow at Georgetown University, and the author of a new memoir, “Lessons From The Edge.” Her book will be for sale at the event, and the ambassador will do a booksigning at 4:30 PM, prior to the start of the discussion.

The discussion will feature hosts Graeme Robertson, professor of political science and director of the Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies, and Barbara Stephenson, vice provost for global affairs and former U.S. ambassador.
