‘Reconstructing Frankenstein’s Monster: Mary Shelley’s World in Print,’ Exhibition Opening
Join undergraduate students from English 295H as they present their original research and a class-curated, full-scale exhibition about Mary Shelley’s groundbreaking modern novel, Frankenstein, on the 200th anniversary of its publication. Working under the direction of Professor Jeanne Moskal, along with librarians and exhibition specialists at the Wilson Special Collections Library, the students spent the spring semester with rare materials from the library collections, reconstructing the world in which Shelley worked. On the Move: Stories of African American Migration and Mobility
The year 2019 marks 400 years since the first enslaved Africans were brought by force to North America in 1619. It’s an anniversary that caused Chaitra Powell, African American collections and outreach archivist at Carolina’s University Libraries, to reflect on other examples of physical and social movement in African American communities over time.
