November 16, 2023 at 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

The Transatlantic Forum for Education and Diplomacy (TFED) and Carolina Forum for Education and Diplomacy (CFED) welcome Kathryn Hewitt to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus to discuss the current security environment – with a focus on China and Russia, the evolving dynamics of NATO, AUKUS, the P5, and more. This will be an excellent discussion to learn more about options for both diplomacy and deterrence as we draw upon Kate’s experience and expertise.Kathryn earned her master’s degree at UNC-Chapel Hill, with a thesis on Global Politics, and now works with the Secretary of the United States Department of Defense Policy Office for Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction as Advisor for Multilateral Arms Control and Nonproliferation. Kathryn previously served with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and with The Brookings Institution.Kathryn’s return to Carolina comes under the aegis of the TFED Global Seminar Series, with the support of co-sponsor, UNC Global Affairs.
