Translation and Transformation in Japanese Reception of Austen’s Novels

Noriyuki Harada (Keio, Japan) will speak on “Translation and Transformation in Japanese Reception of Austen’s Novels” and explore popular translations and adaptations of Pride and Prejudice in Japan from movies to comic books.

This event is run by Jane Austen & Co, a free public Zoom series focused on the life, histories, and writings of women living in the Regency era., and co-sponsored by the Carolina Asia Center. This year’s series from Jane Austen & Co is “Asia & the Regency,” which will look at topics across East and South Asia in connection with the literature of Jane Austen and the global influences on Jane Austen’s Britain.

This talk is free and open to the public, and will be held virtually over Zoom.
