In October 2006, German Anglicist and literary scholar Bernd Engler became president and vice-chancellor of Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen in Germany. Engler spent time at Carolina as a research fellow in American studies from 1991 to 1992, and Executive Vice Provost and Chief International Officer Ron Strauss is grateful that Engler never forgot the value of the experiences he had here.
