Joshua Jennings serves the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs as communication manager. He joined the department in October 2023. He is experienced in executive communication, crisis communication, project management and program evaluation and is passionate about using meaningful, strategic communication to enhance global affairs in higher education.

From 2017 to 2020, Joshua lived in Ouanaminthe, Haiti, building and supporting a network of nonprofit organizations and serving as a citizen liaison volunteer (or warden) with the U.S. Department of State’s Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. His efforts focused on education, public health, agricultural development and leadership development. Several nonprofit organizations have recruited him to conduct assessments of projects and organizations throughout Haiti, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, the United States and Africa.

In 2020, he relocated to Lexington, Kentucky to manage communication in the University of Kentucky’s COVID-19 pandemic emergency operations unit before joining the executive communication team. For more than two years, Joshua supported the university’s administration in its communication efforts, including crisis communication.

Joshua earned his bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Spanish and his master’s degree in Community and Leadership Development from the University of Kentucky. He also completed coursework at the Universidad Latina in Heredia, Costa Rica, and his graduate research focused on storytelling, photography and narrative-building in cross-cultural, short-term missions contexts.

Joshua, his wife (Felicia), their son (Julian) and their dog (Eleanor) are excited to be part of the Carolina Community.
