Walker Winslow Stephenson joined the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs as program coordinator in August 2023. In this role, he oversees scheduling and programming for events and meetings as well as provides administrative support to the associate provost for global affairs.  

Before joining UNC Global Affairs, Walker served as a social media and digital content associate with the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service, where he developed global media campaigns and assisted in organizing and promoting the department’s global communication strategy. Walker also served as a graduate teaching fellow at UNC’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media, instructing students on how to effectively utilize a variety of communication tools and build digital campaigns. Additionally, Walker has taught English in L’viv, Ukraine, studied abroad in Chisinau, Moldova, and enjoys learning from others while traveling to new places.  

Walker graduated with a master’s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in Media and Communication and a graduate certificate in International Peace and Conflict Transformation. He holds a BA in International Studies from NC State University with minors in Russian Studies and Political Science. His research interests include state-sponsored media campaigns, disinformation, and narrative building in Eastern Europe.
